Strong Young Movers Frequently Asked Questions |
Strong Young Movers Frequently Asked Questions |
What do you move? Strong Young Movers moves normal household goods. With the exception of furniture and awkward items, we request that everything be in a box. This greatly speeds your move. Fragile items, including, but not limited to, glass, marble, and electronics, must be in a cardboard box or wooden crate with padding. If they are not the crew leader MAY elect to move them, but they will be moved solely at the customer's risk. What don't you move? Strong Young Movers does NOT move- pianos, projection TVs, live animals, dead animals, human remains, lumber, rock, gravel, perishable food, sooty or smoke damaged goods, guns, ammunition, explosives, flammable liquids or gases, fire accelerants, fire starters of any kind, chemicals, large pressurized containers, anything marked with a "hazmat" warning label, or anything else the crew leader deems potentially hazardous to his crew or his equipment. These items all require specialists, and some require special licenses. Naturally, we also don't move any illegal or contraband items. Strong Young Movers also does not move items that are extremely dirty, muddy, or wet. (We can normally move house plants if they are not taller than six and a half feet [including pot], so long as their pots are covered with plastic bags.) Do you assemble furniture? Strong Young Movers provides only basic furniture assembling/disassembly. Essentially, the only tools carried on the truck are screwdrivers and a crescent wrench. If other tools are needed, the customer must supply them. The movers will only attempt such work that they feel confident they can do. (For example, in one instance, a customer wanted us to disassemble a piece of antique furniture secured with press fit dowels. While we try to be reasonable, we were unable to comply with this request.) About arrival times and schedules Strong Young Movers makes every effort to arrive at the time we say we will, but you must understand that we are human, and there are many things beyond our control. Our truck, for instance, must often travel 20 to 30 miles between jobs in Bay Area traffic. We practice preventative maintenance, but even we occasionally get a flat tire. In the unlikely even of a schedule conflict, mechanical problem, injury or illness, we will make every effort to re-schedule your move ASAP, or provide you with sources to find other reputable movers if you choose to find someone else.
